Stage 2 - Shap to Pooley Bridge
Distance - 14miles/22.5km
Stage 2 of The Westmorland Way leaves the elongated village of Shap and travels to Pooley Bridge, a little village situated at the foot of Ullswater Lake. On this stage of the walk you'll travel through along the River Lowther through Bampton Grange and later the ruins of Lowther Castle before climbing to spectalur views seen from the village of Askham, which has been described as one of the most attractive villages along the Westmorland Way. From here you'll drop down to Barton before following the River Eamont into Pooley Bridge.
